The portfolio of defense export orders with Turkey is estimated at $ 1 billion, Dmitry Shugaev, the Director of the Russian Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation said the Ecoturk TV Turkish TV channel.

"Today we can state that Turkey's order for Russian equipment is estimated at about $ 1 billion," RIA Novosti quotes Shugaev as saying.

Before that, the number of Russian export contracts in the Turkish direction was not officially announced.

In September 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia and Turkey "successfully cooperate" in the field of military-technical cooperation, and negotiations were underway on new promising weapons.

Currently, Turkey has Russian helicopters, various types of ground military equipment, as well as S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, the delivery of which was completed last year.

In addition, Russia and Turkey are discussing the joint development of aviation complexes and air defense systems.

"Our specialists continue to discuss possible options for cooperation in the field of joint production of aviation equipment and air defense equipment. I am sure that the potential for interaction is not limited to this, " Shugaev said.

Earlier, Rosoboronexport CEO Alexander Mikheev reported that Russia and Turkey have joint projects to create aircraft and helicopters, as well as components for armored vehicles.

In addition, the countries are discussing the possibility of joint production of S-400 air defense systems. The first regimental set of these complexes worth 2.5 billion dollars was delivered to Ankara last year, and the second one is currently being discussed.
