Turkey plans to allow Russians to enter without foreign passports

25 March 2019

Turkish authorities are considering the possibility of allowing Russians to enter the country without having the foreign passport.

This question, according to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu, will be discussed at the talks between the heads of the Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministry, which will be held in Antalya in the end of March. According to Cavusoglu, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov will visit Antalya on March 28th.

«Citizens of Russia will be able to come to our country on their internal passports; we have begun negotiations to pave the way for them», the daily newspaper Milliyet quoted the Turkish Foreign Ministry chief. The signing of the agreement, as noted, will also allow Turkish citizens to enter Russia under internal documents.

We recall that now for entry into Turkey, the citizens of Russia need the foreign passport. In this case, a visa is not required if the period of staying in the country doesn’t exceed two months.
