Turkey states work with UN to remove obstacles to grain supplies from Russia

Turkey continues to cooperate with the UN to remove obstacles to grain and fertilizer supplies from Russia, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said on Wednesday at a press conference in Brussels.

"This time the grain deal has been extended for 60 days, Russia is demanding the implementation of the agreements. We are working on this with the UN. As you know, there are obstacles in the areas of ship insurance, banking operations, servicing ships in ports. The key countries here are the United States and the United Kingdom, so we have discussed these topics with [US Secretary of State Antony] Blinken and [British Foreign Secretary James] Cleverly," he stressed. The speech was broadcast on his Twitter page.

Agreements on the export of food from Ukraine were signed last July 22 in Istanbul for 120 days, in November the agreements were prolonged for the same period. One of them regulates the procedure for the export of grain from the Kiev-controlled ports of Odessa, Chernomorsk and Yuzhny. In addition, a memorandum was signed between Russia and the United Nations, which envisages obligations of the world organization to remove restrictions on the export of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products to world markets. Moscow points out that the second part of the agreement is not being implemented. On March 18, Russia announced a 60-day extension of the deal, warning that this would be enough time to assess the implementation of the memorandum signed with the UN.
