The Turkish authorities do not intend to fine Russian citizens who violated the terms of their stay in the country due to circumstances beyond their control, TASS reports with reference to the Russian Embassy in Ankara.

"The Turkish authorities have officially notified the Embassy that no penalties will be applied to foreign citizens staying in Turkey who, as it is determined, have violated their stay in Turkey due to circumstances beyond their control due to force majeure because of the cancellation of flights in the context of a coronavirus epidemic, if the period of legal stay in Turkey has expired during the period from the date of termination of the communication to its resumption. Thus, there is no need for citizens to apply to Russian foreign institutions and transfer their data for their subsequent referral to the competent Turkish authorities," the Russian diplomatic mission said in a statement.

In Turkey, according to the latest data, the total number of people infected with the new coronavirus reached 30,217, 649 people died, and 1,326 recovered.
