Turkish Cabinet to discuss energy security, Ukraine and normalization of relations with Syria

At its first meeting of the year on Monday, which will be chaired by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Turkish government will discuss energy security, international issues, the situation in the economy and the fight against terrorism, TRT 1 reported.


According to its information, it is planned, in particular, to discuss the creation of an energy hub on the Turkish territory for natural gas supplies to Europe. The agenda of the Cabinet will also include settlement of the Ukrainian crisis and Turkey's efforts in this direction. In addition, it is planned to discuss the process of normalizing relations with Syria and countering terrorist organizations in the north of the neighboring country. These topics were touched upon during Erdogan's telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on January 5, the channel recalls.


With regard to the domestic agenda, the questions of possible rescheduling of presidential and parliamentary elections to be held in June in Turkey, the fight against inflation and the implementation of social projects will be considered. After the government meeting, Erdogan will deliver his traditional video address to the nation.
