Turkish pharmaceutical manufacturer VisCoran Ilac Sanayii A.S. is ready to produce millions of doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine after transferring relevant technologies. The chairman of the company's board of directors, Ozturk Oran, said this in an interview with Demiroren News Agency on Monday.

"After the technology transfer between the two countries is completed, we will be able to produce millions of doses in Turkey," Oran stressed.

According to him, the Turkish pharmaceutical company began negotiations with the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) back in April last year. "We conducted a study and started negotiations with Russia, believing that the vaccine could be more effective. Our negotiations continued, they reached a certain point in July, and on August 16 we signed an agreement with the RDIF in our country. We have already received all the documents and data that we need for the co-production of the vaccine. We submitted them to the Ministry of Health of Turkey", he added.

According to Oran, the situation is now "at the stage of completing the processes at the Ministry of Health concerning production." "There are also companies that we have talked to about production capacity. The vaccine is expected to be produced in our country and also exported to other countries, including European ones," he said.

On January 23, a representative of the RDIF told TASS that agreements had been reached with a leading Turkish pharmaceutical manufacturer to produce Sputnik V vaccine against coronavirus in Turkey. According to the representative, the technology transfer process has begun.

Sputnik V vaccine is based on a proven and well studied human adenovirus vector platform and has already received regulatory approval in Russia, Belarus, Argentina, the UAE, Hungary, Serbia, Bolivia, Algeria, Palestine, Venezuela, Paraguay and Turkmenistan. The process of vaccine registration in the EU has been initiated.
