Turkish delegation to arrive in Moscow to discuss the deployment of troops to Libya

In the near future, Turkey intends to send a delegation to Moscow to discuss the situation in Libya and the possibility of sending Turkish troops there. This, according to the Turkiye newspaper, was said the President of the Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan, answering the question of journalists, whether during his recent telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin he discussed the question of the possible sending of the Turkish military to Libya.


The delegation, according to Erdogan, will include Deputy Foreign and Defense Ministers, as well as intelligence and military representatives. In addition to Libya, the parties will discuss the situation in Syria and the Middle East as a whole.


After the overthrow and death of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011, the East of the country is ruled by elected Parliament, and the West, with the capital in Tripoli, - the Government of National Accord formed with the support of the UN and the European Union led by Fayez al-Sarraj.


Authorities in the Eastern part of the country are cooperating with the Libyan national army, led by Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who tries to take control over Tripoli since April.


At the end of November, Erdogan and al-Sarraj signed memorandums of cooperation in the military sphere and on a mutual understanding on Maritime zones.
