12 February 2020

In the coming days, a Turkish delegation will arrive in Russia to discuss the aggravation of the situation in the Syrian province of Idlib, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu told a press conference in the Albanian capital of Tirana today.

"In the next few days, our delegation will go to Moscow. We continue to work together with Russia, and we strive to ensure a permanent truce [in Idlib]. But if there is no result [of the talks], then we are determined," the Turkish foreign Minister said, in particular.

Earlier today, the escalation in Idlib was discussed by Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

"The presidents also noted the importance of the full implementation of the existing Russian-Turkish agreements, including the Sochi Memorandum of September 17, 2018," the message of the Kremlin press service reads.

The situation in Idlib deteriorated sharply after the Russian and Turkish military made another attempt to impose a regime of ceasefire, but the terrorists intensified their attacks. As a result, military specialists from Russia and Turkey were killed.
