Turkish Foreign Minister to Visit Moscow for Grain Deal Talks

24 August 2023

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to visit Moscow in September for discussions aimed at reestablishing the grain deal between Turkey and Russia. Citing sources, the Milliyet newspaper reported that there is a possibility of negotiations taking place in Istanbul involving representatives from Russia, the United Nations and Turkey regarding the grain deal. This scenario is seen as a potential step toward revitalizing the initiative. If successful, these discussions could eventually expand to include Ukraine as well.

The newspaper also mentioned that an advisor to Turkish President Akif Cagatay Kilic recently visited Kiev on August 23, and Hakan Fidan is set to travel to the Ukrainian capital on August 25. The primary focus of these talks will be the revival of the Black Sea grain initiative.
