Turkish Interior Minister Suleyman Soylu harshly criticized the official US condolence for Sunday's terrorist attack in Istanbul, noting that a response would follow shortly.
"It seems to me that the condolence expressed by the US today can be assessed as if the killer was among the first to arrive at the scene of the terrorist attack. The response to this message will be very clear, hopefully in the very near future," A Haber TV channel quoted the Turkish minister as saying on Monday. Soylu did not quote the text of condolences.
The Turkish interior minister also promised to "answer very soon for the pain experienced in the Beyoglu neighborhood." "I repeat, the response to those who caused us this pain will be many times worse than what we have experienced. We know the message they want to send us with this act of violence. We got it, so let no one worry about the response," he said.
