Turkish presidential candidate: Ankara and Moscow's ties contribute to regional stability

06 April 2023

Turkey and Russia need each other and their cooperation contributes to stability in the region and its economic development. Turkish presidential candidate Sinan Ogan expressed this opinion to TASS on Thursday.

"We see Russia and Turkey as two countries that need each other. Russia needs Turkey as much as Turkey needs Russia. Turkish-Russian relations were the topic of my doctoral dissertation, which I worked on in Russia; I wrote it in Russian. I am a presidential candidate who is very familiar with the issue of bilateral relations, follows it closely and attaches importance to it," said Ogan, who completed his doctoral thesis at MGIMO.

"By interacting bilaterally and multilaterally, we can better understand each other as neighbors, respectively, more effectively solve the existing problems of the region, contributing to stability and economic development there," he stressed.

Ogan, 56, a former parliament member and founder of the Center of International Relations and Strategic Analysis (TURKSAM), is running for president of Turkey for the ATA Alliance (short for Ataturk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey).
