Turkmenistan MFA presents roadmap for cooperation with US in 2023-2024

Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov presented President Serdar Berdimuhamedov a roadmap for cooperation with the US for 2023-2024. Neytralny Turkmenistan reported Tuesday, following a working meeting with members of the government that Berdimuhamedov held the day before.

 

As the newspaper notes, the roadmap was developed following a working visit of a Turkmen delegation led by Meredov to the United States, which took place on April 23-24. It was created to intensify the partnership between Turkmenistan and the United States, and the foreign minister also presented proposals for strengthening the legal and contractual framework of relations and preparing a framework plan for visits of various levels. Berdimuhamedov welcomed the proposals, noting that Turkmen-American cooperation is developing dynamically in both bilateral and multilateral formats. The president of the country, according to the newspaper, instructed to continue strengthening the existing solid potential in the partnership between the two countries.

 

During the visit, Meredov met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken. The two sides noted that cooperation should be intensified, with advanced digital technologies and innovative approaches being the main focus. The sides called environmental protection one of the priorities of bilateral cooperation.

 

In addition, members of the Turkmen delegation met with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt. They discussed implementation of major projects with participation of leading American business. According to the newspaper, special attention was paid to the supplies of Turkmen energy resources to the world markets, in particular to Europe. At the same time, the sides stressed the importance of consistent implementation of large-scale projects of regional and international importance such as the construction of a gas pipeline Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan - India and a power line Turkmenistan - Afghanistan - Pakistan.
