Two citizens of Tajikistan killed in conflict with Kyrgyzstan

The State National Security Committee (SNSC) of Tajikistan has reported two people killed and 10 wounded during an armed conflict on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border that occurred on Thursday, the press center of the border troops of the SCNS of the republic said in a statement published on the website of the Khovar news agency on Friday.


The state committee reports that two Tajik citizens were killed in the armed conflict on the border with Kyrgyzstan - a resident of a border village, killed by a mine "fired by Kyrgyz soldiers into his yard," and an ambulance driver, killed while rescuing local residents during the shelling. "As a result of the border conflict on the Tajik side, 10 people were wounded, including six servicemen and four civilians," the agency specifies.


Representatives of the competent authorities of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan held a meeting in the northern Tajik city of Isfara in Sughd Region, and the sides are studying the causes of the conflict that occurred on the border of the two republics.


"At present, the situation on the state border of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan is stable, a joint commission of the relevant structures of both sides are studying the causes and factors of the border conflict," the statement said.


It is noted that the parties, after considering and discussing the armed border conflict, announced a ceasefire until 08:00 (10:00 Moscow time) on January 28, 2022. for the withdrawal of all additional forces and equipment to the place of permanent deployment.
