The United Arab Emirates (UAE) defense ministry announced the interception and destruction of a ballistic missile that was launched by the Houthi rebels of Yemen's Ansar Allah movement in the direction of UAE territory. A statement to this effect was published Monday night on the Emirati defense ministry's Twitter page.

"Air defense assets intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi terrorist group toward the country. The attack caused no casualties as the remnants of the ballistic missile fell outside populated areas," the statement stressed.

Earlier, the insurgents' spokesman brigadier general Yahya Saria informed that the Ansar Allah command would announce the details of the new military operation against the UAE in the coming hours.

On January 17, the Houthis carried out a drone and ballistic missile attack on the Abu Dhabi National oil company infrastructure, as well as a construction site near the UAE capital's international airport. The fire at one of the company's facilities killed four people and injured more than five.

On the night of January 24, the UAE defense ministry said it had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles that were headed to Abu Dhabi by the Houthis. Later, the ministry said it destroyed a ballistic missile launcher in Yemen that belonged to Ansar Allah.
