UAE Reaffirms Commitment to Peaceful Settlement of Ukrainian Conflict

09 February

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has reiterated its commitment to actively engage in seeking a peaceful resolution to the conflict in Ukraine and addressing its humanitarian repercussions, according to a statement released by the UAE Foreign Ministry.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed the UAE's readiness to continue efforts that seek a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine, advocating for diplomacy, dialogue, and de-escalation, while also supporting initiatives aimed at alleviating the humanitarian impact of the crisis," the statement outlined.

Expressing gratitude for the cooperation between Russia and Ukraine, the UAE acknowledged their responsiveness to Emirati mediation efforts, particularly in facilitating a successful prisoner exchange process. The statement underscored the UAE's approach of leveraging constructive relationships with friendly nations to foster consensus and address regional and international conflicts.

The announcement follows the recent prisoner-of-war exchange between Russia and Ukraine, conducted with the humanitarian mediation of Emirati authorities, using a "100-for-100" formula, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.
