The UN World Food Program (WFP) has announced that it will have to cut rations for families in the Gaza Strip.
"The WFP is forced to reduce rations for families to provide more food for newly displaced people," read a message posted on the WFP's X page (formerly Twitter). The message also highlighted that food and humanitarian aid stocks in central and southern Gaza are extremely limited, and commercial food shipments are virtually non-existent in the enclave.
On June 26, the WFP reported that 2.15 million civilians in the Gaza Strip are expected to face severe food shortages in the coming months. According to the organization, the lack of food will be "catastrophic" for 495,000 people.
