The United Nations notes increased violence, including torture and executions, against refugees in US-controlled territory in Syria's El-Hol refugee camp, according to a joint statement by the Russian and Syrian interagency coordination headquarters.
"According to the United Nations, there has been an increase in violence against internally displaced persons in the US-controlled territory in the El-Hol refugee camp, accompanied by torture and exemplary executions. This demonstrates the actual inability of Washington to ensure security in the areas under its control," reads the statement.
The document also stresses that "the main obstacles to the return of Syrian citizens to their homes remain the problems of restoring lasting peace and the country's economy created by the United States and its allies," which include the illegal American occupation of the republic's territories with the support of armed gangs and the economic sanctions imposed on June 17, 2020 by the so-called Caesar Act in violation of international law.
"The Americans and their satellites have excelled over decades of practice in falsifying information to manipulate public consciousness. The West's destructive policy against the Syrian state, fighting international terrorism, is justified by the alleged crimes of the Syrian leadership, the materials of which are fabricated by them themselves," the statement reads.
It says that by such actions the Americans are trying to devalue all the suffering and sacrifices of the Syrian people, who have been fighting heroically against terrorist organizations for 10 years under the leadership of their leader.
Both staffs called on the world community to stop trusting the unsubstantiated accusations against Syria, its people and leadership presented and actively promoted by the United States. "We demand that the US cease its destabilizing impact on the social and economic situation in the Syrian Arab Republic and immediately return all illegally occupied Syrian territory to the control of the republic's government, as well as lift the illegitimate sanctions," the statement stressed.
