The UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has reported that nearly 500 schools in the Gaza Strip have been shelled and destroyed by Israel amidst the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Out of 564 schools in the region, at least 477 have been affected.
The report indicates that 344 schools were directly hit by shelling, while another 133 were damaged due to fighting in their vicinity. This damage includes 264 public schools, 57 private schools, and 156 schools operated by the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East.
