UNRWA Calls for Expanded Humanitarian Aid for Gaza Residents

14 February

Despite the increase in humanitarian programs in Gaza, the situation remains dire for many residents due to a lack of shelters and harsh weather conditions, the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) stated.

“Displaced families continue to suffer as their homes are destroyed, and harsh winter conditions, heavy rains, and overcrowded shelters leave them without adequate protection. It is essential to expand humanitarian aid efforts to address the immense needs of the population in the Palestinian enclave,” read the statement published on X.

UNRWA reported that since the ceasefire in Gaza came into effect on January 19, the agency has provided food assistance to at least 1.5 million people. Additionally, 37 new shelters have been opened for those returning to Gaza, including 7 in Gaza City and 30 in the northern parts of the enclave.
