Washington has so far agreed to lift only part of the sanctions on Tehran, but current conditions hold out hope for an agreement on a nuclear deal, Mamoud Abbaszadeh Meshkini, spokesman for the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of the Majlis (Iran's parliament), said on Wednesday.
"There are positives in the negotiation process and progress, but there remain important issues that need to be agreed upon. Of course, Iran has the right to lift all sanctions, but so far the opposite side has agreed to lift them only partially," the IRNA news agency quoted him as saying.
According to the deputy, "facts and documents at the disposal of the Iranian side show that the conditions for a mutually beneficial agreement have been prepared, but [it is possible] only if the Western countries show good will and thoroughness."
The eighth round of talks resumed in Vienna on January 3 after a New Year's break to restore the JCPOA to its original form and bring the US back into the multilateral agreement. The work is being carried out both within the framework of the Joint Commission between Iran and Russia, Britain, Germany, China, and France and in the format of separate consultations with the United States without the participation of Tehran, which is not yet ready for a direct dialogue with the US side. The negotiators have already agreed to speed up the process of working on the draft agreement. It is assumed that the eighth round could be the last, since the participants in the consultations are determined to finish the work in February of this year.
