US intelligence found data on Russia's "collusion" with the Taliban unreliable

29 June 2020

US President Donald Trump, based on intelligence reports, admitted that information about Russia's collusion with the Taliban is fake.

"The intelligence service just informed me that it did not consider this information credible, and therefore (they — ed.) did not inform me and (the Vice President - ed.) to Mike Pence. Perhaps this is another fraud related to Russia, maybe with the help of fake news, the New York Times wants to put the Republicans in a bad light," the American leader wrote on Twitter.

Earlier, the White House has already called the newspaper's note inaccurate, noting that the intelligence service did not report anything like this. Trump himself called it a hit.

On Friday, the New York Times, citing anonymous US intelligence officials, published an article claiming that Russian military intelligence offered rewards to Taliban-linked militants for attacks on US soldiers in Afghanistan. No evidence was provided.

After that, the Russian Embassy in the United States announced threats against diplomats. The Foreign Ministry, in turn, called the publication a fake.

Later a rebuttal from the Taliban came (banned in Russia).
