US Military Base in Syria Hit by Rocket Strike

16 September

The US military base Kharab al-Jir in Syria has been struck by rockets, according to a report by Al Mayadeen. The report did not specify which group was responsible for the attack, and further details regarding the incident have not yet been made available.

Kurdish forces, supported by the Western coalition, currently control significant parts of Syria's Hasakah and Raqqa provinces, as well as the northeastern regions of Deir ez-Zor. Since 2015, the US has established 12 military bases in these areas as part of its operations against the Islamic State (IS, banned in Russia.)
