US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday discussed with Uzbek Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov the events in Ukraine and Afghanistan. This was said in a statement by Ned Price, head of the State Department press service.

As the document specifies, Blinken and Kamilov met in Washington. The secretary of state noted the "active cooperation" between the two countries. He also asserted that the Russian operation in Ukraine was a "violation of international law."

"The secretary of state noted Uzbekistan's humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians and Afghans and stressed that the US does not intend to allow terrorists to ever use Afghanistan as a safe haven," Price reported. As he added, Blinken "called for continued reforms in Uzbekistan, including improving the business climate, strengthening the rule of law, protecting human rights and basic freedoms."
