Presidents of Uzbekistan and Turkey Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a meeting of the Uzbek-Turkish Council of Strategic Cooperation of the highest level, during which they decided to raise the status of bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive partnership Mirziyoyev's press service reported this on Wednesday.
"Given the current high level of relations between our countries, we have agreed to raise their status to a comprehensive strategic partnership," Mirziyoyev said, commenting on the outcome of the talks. According to him, the volume of bilateral trade has increased 2.5 times in recent years, the number of joint ventures has grown five times, and the volume of Turkish investments in Uzbekistan's economy has increased 70 times.
According to the press service, the sides discussed in detail the issues of political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic cooperation, including in investments, transport, textile industry, energy, agriculture, healthcare and cultural and humanitarian exchanges during the narrow talks and council session. It is noted that a joint road map will be developed in the near future for the full implementation of all agreements reached.
Following the talks, Mirziyoyev and Erdogan signed a joint statement, and nine intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements were also signed.
