Uzbekistan is asking Moscow to increase supplies of the coronavirus vaccine and consider producing it in the republic, Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov said at a meeting with his Russian counterpart Mikhail Mishustin.
He noted that Uzbekistan has successfully started vaccination with Sputnik V.
"We would like to ask you to increase its (Sputnik V - ed.) volume, we are ready to increase the contract and would be happy if there is an opportunity to start producing it (the vaccine - ed.) in Uzbekistan," Aripov said.
On April 1, Uzbekistan also launched a campaign to vaccinate the population against the coronavirus. Currently, Uzbeks are vaccinated with AstraZeneca vaccine, a recombinant preparation of Chinese Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutica and Russian Sputnik V vaccine, during which time over 600,000 people have been vaccinated.
