Uzbekistan bought 2 million doses of the Russian vaccine Grippol plus to vaccinate preschoolers and first-graders against influenza, the press service of the preschool education ministry said Wednesday.
"To prevent influenza and respiratory diseases, 2 million doses of the vaccine were brought to Uzbekistan - it is Grippol plus, which is produced in the Russian Federation," the ministry said in a statement.
The ministry added that the Russian medicine is designed for free centralized vaccination of all preschool children and first grade students, with 2,753 immunization sites throughout the country.
The Grippol plus vaccine has shown its effectiveness in Uzbekistan and other countries, the press service said. "It has practically no side effects and contraindications, it has virus strains recommended by the World Health Organization for the current season," the ministry added.
