A shipment of the second component of Sputnik V Russian vaccine was delivered to Uzbekistan on Tuesday. This was stated by the Russian Embassy in Tashkent.
‘[The shipment] <…> of the second component of Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine was delivered to Tashkent early this morning. Vaccination with the first component will start in the republic as early as tomorrow’, the statement says.
Uzbekistan received the first shipment of the Russian vaccine on 23 April. Entrepreneur Alisher Usmanov contributed half of the cost of the entire vaccine volume.
A mass vaccination campaign has been held in the republic since 1 April. For this purpose, 660 000 doses of the vaccine from AstraZeneca British-Swedish company and 1 000 000 doses of the vaccine from Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Chinese company were delivered to Uzbekistan earlier. According to the Uzbek Health Ministry, as of April 26, 565 000 people have been vaccinated. There are 88 280 coronavirus cases in the country, 85 232 (97%) people have recovered and 648 people have died.
