Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and Syrian Permanent Representative to the UN Bassam al-Sabbagh discussed solving humanitarian problems, which were worsened by the earthquake in the republic, the Russian MFA said in a statement issued on Friday.
"The interlocutors discussed the current situation on the ground in Syria and around it in the context of the Syrian Arab Republic government's active efforts to solve urgent humanitarian problems aggravated by the February 6 earthquake, overcoming the socio-economic crisis, normalizing and developing relations with countries in the region," the Russian diplomatic office said in a statement following the meeting, which took place on April 26.
The Russian MFA said the sides paid special attention to the implementation of key UN Security Council decisions on Syria, including Resolution 2672 on international humanitarian assistance and Resolution 2254 on political settlement of the crisis in the country.
