Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin held a telephone conversation with his Turkish counterpart Burak Akcapar to discuss the Istanbul agreements and the situation in and around the Gaza Strip. This information was conveyed in a statement by the Russian Foreign Ministry following their conversation on October 11.
The two diplomats focused on the Istanbul agreements, which were signed on July 22, 2022, with particular attention to addressing specific tasks related to implementing the Russia-UN memorandum aimed at normalizing domestic agricultural exports, set to remain in effect until 2025. They also addressed the evolving situation in and around the Gaza Strip, with an emphasis on the urgent need for a ceasefire and the provision of humanitarian assistance to the civilian population.
Additionally, the discussion encompassed a comprehensive exchange of perspectives on topics of shared concern within the international and regional spheres, particularly considering their deliberation in the Security Council and the UN General Assembly, the Foreign Ministry reported.
