Bilateral meeting of the Chairman of the State Duma Viacheslav Volodin and the Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Şentop was held within the framework of the International Forum “Development of Parliamentarism”, started on July 1st in Moscow. The parties signed the regulations of the High-Level Inter-Parliamentary Commission. According to the Chairman of the State Duma, the creation of this commission is extremely important to bring positions of Russian and Turkey closer together.
The parties also discussed the development of new formats of effective inter-parliamentary cooperation, in particular, the Conference of Speakers of the Parliaments of Afghanistan, China, Iran, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey on counter-terrorism and strengthening regional cooperation. The next meeting will be held in October in Istanbul.
The creation of a single list of terrorist organizations will be discussed at the conference, Volodin said: “It is necessary to give the same interpretation and definition to terrorist organizations that find a loophole and avoid responsibility because of the imperfection of the legislation of the countries of the world." He also spoke about expanding the format of the Conference, including other countries, in particular, Syria and India.
In his turn, Mustafa Şentop expressed his satisfaction with the level of development of relations between the two countries.
