17 April 2020

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the traditional Victory Day Parade on May 9 will be held later this year.

"It is less than a month before the Victory Day, and now we are faced with a difficult choice: the date of May 9 is sacred for us, and the life of every person is priceless," the Russian leader said, in particular, at a meeting of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, which was held in a video conference.

"I instruct the Defense Minister, heads of law enforcement agencies, and authorities at all levels to change the schedule and postpone preparations for the military parade on Red Square, for parades in the regions, and to postpone all mass public events that were planned to mark the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory," the President added.

At the same time, Vladimir Putin stressed that the parade on Red Square on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory and the March of the "Immortal regiment" will be held in 2020, when the epidemiological situation stabilizes.
