Last week, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan announced that in the near future it might be decided to exempt the border area in Northern Syria from the Kurds and to create a security zone there for Syrian refugees from Turkey.

On October 7, the United States announced that it would not participate in the operation, moreover, withdraw troops from the area of possible hostilities. However, later President Donald Trump changed his decision, saying that the Kurdish formations will be supported by Washington.
