Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel. According to the press service of the Kremlin, the main topic of discussion was the settlement of the situation in Libya.
"The main attention was paid to the Libyan crisis. The parties noted the importance of preventing further escalation and the need to resume a peaceful dialogue," the message reads.
Vladimir Putin, as noted, confirmed "Russia’s readiness to continue its assistance with mediation in this area by Germany and the United Nations".
The telephone conversation, as noted in the Kremlin, was held at the initiative of the German side.
