Russia intends to support Sudan for the normalisation of the situation in the country, The President of Russia Vladimir Putin said at the meeting with Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman al-Burhan in Sochi.
"We intend to continue rendering all necessary aid and support for the normalisation of the situation. We will continue making sure that the positions of the international community, primarily Western countries, on the Sudan problem are unbiased and based on respect for its sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity," RIA Novosti quotes the Presindent as saying.
Sudan, according to Putin, is among Russia's long-standing reliable partners.
Al-Burhan, in turn, noted that " the changes in Sudan are positive."
The situation in Sudan remains unstable since the end of 2018 due to the economic crisis and the mass protests caused by it. In April this year there was a military coup. Omar al-Bashir was removed from power after holding the office for nearly 30 years, and then was arrested.
