Vladimir Putin talks with President of Mozambique

Russian President Vladimir Putin held talks with President of the Republic of Mozambique Filipe Nyusi.

 

 

The leader of the African state paid an official visit to Russia. The leaders discussed issues related to the further development of Russian-Mozambican cooperation in various areas, as well as current international and regional issues.

 

 

Next year Russian and Mozambique mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.  As Vladimir Putin noted, things are fairly quiet on the trade and economic front, but there are good prospects and Russian and Mozambique have gained good momentum lately.

 

 

Filipe Nyusi, in his turn, thanked the President of Russia and all  Russian people for their help in rebuilding the country after the devastating cyclones that swept through Mozambique.

 

 

Following the talks, the parties witnessed the exchange of documents signed during the official visit of the President of Mozambique to Russia.

 

 

Mozambique is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The number of Muslims in the country is more than 5 million people (17.8 % of the total population).
