The people should be eternally grateful to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War, Russian President Vladimir Putin told in an interview for the "War for memory" documentary, dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the Victory.


"We should be eternally grateful to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War," the Russian leader said in particular in the announcement of the film on the Rossiya 24 TV channel.


Earlier, the head of state said that, despite the coronavirus and the associated cancellation of a number of mass events, on May 9, there will be aircraft flights, "Immortal regiment" in a virtual format and fireworks.


Putin himself will lay flowers at the Eternal flame in Moscow on May 9, where he will address the Russians.


On the day of the 75th anniversary of the Victory in WWII, the film, dedicated to the events of those years, will be shown by Russia Today worldwide on-air and online.


"On May 9, RT will present the full version of the documentary "ABC of Victory: from Brest to the Reichstag" and hold a special broadcast on all language versions of the channel. For the anniversary of the Victory, RT launched a large-scale social media project called "Pages of Victory" and recreated the moment of the historical picture, where Soviet soldiers hoisted the Victory Banner over the Reichstag in 1945… RT tells about the 75th anniversary of victory in the Great Patriotic War in six languages-Russian, English, Spanish, German, French and Arabic - on-air and online. On May 9, the audience will see coverages from Red square, as well as programs and documentaries about the war," the message of the TV channel reads.


In addition, RT in Spanish will cover the stories of war participants from Latin America and Spain, RT in Arabic will present a series of videos about major battles, major military leaders and hero cities, and RT France will show interviews with French veterans and historians, authors of books about the WWII. RT Deutsch will tell the story of veteran Vladimir Varenik, who reached Berlin.
