State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed "warm words of greetings" from Russian President Vladimir Putin to Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov during a meeting, the TASS correspondent reported on Monday.
Volodin and Berdimuhamedov also discussed cooperation between the parliaments of Russia and Turkmenistan. The chairman of the Duma noted "the need to develop a parliamentary dimension for legislative support of decisions taken at the leadership level" of the two states.
A delegation of the State Duma, headed by its speaker, arrived in the Turkmen capital of Ashgabat on Sunday. It includes representatives of the relevant committees of the State Duma. According to the Duma press service, this was the first visit of the Duma delegation headed by the Duma chairman in 11 years.
