Volodin: relations between Russia and Iran are built without double standards

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin and Iranian Majlis (Parliament) Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Thursday at a meeting in Tehran discussed inter-parliamentary cooperation and its reaching a new level. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma.


"Our relations within the parliamentary dimension are developing in various formats. In particular, within the framework of the high-level commission on cooperation between the State Duma and the Assembly of the Islamic Council of Iran. Despite the pandemic, we maintain contacts. It is extremely important that we can discuss the issues that have accumulated," Volodin stressed.


According to him, parliamentarians must do everything to make the relations between the countries "more dynamic" and the cooperation of the parliaments "reach a new level." "Our relations without double standards, they are based on the principles of friendship and trust," pointed out the speaker of the State Duma.


Ghalibaf, in turn, thanked Volodin for coming to the inauguration ceremony of Iranian President-elect Ebrahim Raisi. According to the Duma press service, the sides discussed the need to continue work within the framework of the Conference of Speakers of Parliaments on countering terrorism and strengthening regional cooperation with the participation of representatives of Afghanistan, China, Pakistan, Russia and Turkey. "This format has proven its effectiveness," Volodin is convinced.
