All Duma factions, despite differences in approach, are united on issues of protecting spiritual values, Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin said Thursday.
"In matters of protection of spiritual, moral values, all political factions, despite the fact that each faction has its own program, its own approaches to solving issues, we were unanimous," Volodin said Thursday, summing up the plenary session of the XI Christmas parliamentary meetings in the State Duma.
"And this also shows that everyone, despite the fact that everyone has a constituency, is aware that society here is united in opinion," he added.
Volodin stressed that Russia needs to protect the institution of the family and its independence. In his view, freedom of choice is possible "only if the country is sovereign, independent." "That is why we pay a lot of attention to this. And I must say that all factions in the State Duma adhere to this very position, understanding that there is one party - Russia," he summarized.
