Volodin sends congratulations from Putin to Iran's president-elect

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin on Thursday conveyed to the new Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi congratulations and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported by the press service of the State Duma.

 
Volodin arrived in Tehran on Thursday to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the new Iranian president.

 
"At the meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin conveyed to Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi congratulations, warm words of welcome and best wishes from Russian President Vladimir Putin. In addition, they discussed the development of bilateral relations between Russia and Iran, as well as interparliamentary cooperation between the two countries," the Duma press service said.

 
During the meeting, the speaker noted that Russia attaches great importance to the development of relations with Iran, and inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries are effectively developing in various formats. "It is right to do everything to ensure that this dynamic is maintained," Volodin noted.

 
Raisi, in turn, conveyed words of gratitude to the Russian president.

 
The inauguration of Iran's president-elect will be held Thursday at 5 p.m. (3:30 p.m. Moscow time) in Tehran. Raisi won the election on July 18 with 17.9 million votes (about 62%) and a turnout of 48.8%. Some 115 representatives from more than 70 countries are scheduled to attend the ceremony.
