The World Health Organization is concerned about the situation with the spread of coronavirus in Russia and a number of European countries, Hans Kluge, Director of the WHO Regional Office for Europe, says.
"Despite the spring weather, we are in the middle of a storm. While the number of newly detected cases of the COVID-19 infection is decreasing in some countries, some countries have yet to feel the full impact of the coronavirus," the expert said.
Although there are optimistic signals from a number of European countries, such as Spain, Italy, Germany and France, according to Kluge, the situation is overshadowed by the increasing number of cases of infection and death in countries such as the United Kingdom, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
"Therefore, the next few weeks will be critical for Europe," the expert stressed, calling on people to comply with restrictions imposed at the national and local levels.
