Moscow will continue its efforts on the Syrian settlement, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
The Kremlin spokesman, speaking to reporters, called the June 20 meeting on Syria in Astana "the continuation of a very long road." "Of course, there are no high expectations, but the work continues and will continue," Peskov stressed.
According to him, "the Russian side continues its consistent line" on the Syrian settlement.
At the 20th international meeting on Syria in Astana, Russian, Turkish, Syrian and Iranian deputy foreign ministers will discuss the fight against terrorism and other issues related to a comprehensive settlement of the situation in Syria, as well as a roadmap for normalizing relations between Ankara and Damascus. According to the MFA of Kazakhstan, delegations from guarantor countries - Russia, Turkey, Iran, as well as representatives of the Syrian government and opposition will take part in the talks, which will be held on June 20-21. Representatives of the UN, Jordan, Iraq and Lebanon are expected to arrive as observers.
