China is ready to join forces with Russia for the security and prosperity of future generations, Chinese President Xi Jinping stated in a congratulatory telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory in World War II.

"I am ready to continue our efforts together with you <...> so that future generations can live on a planet where there is universal peace, security and prosperity," Xinhua news agency quoted him as saying.

As the Chinese leader noted, Beijing intends to deepen the relations of a comprehensive strategic partnership with Moscow, protect the results of the Second World war and a just international order. "I am ready to actively promote the preservation of multilateral mechanisms of interaction, to contribute to the formation of humanity with a common destiny," Xi Jinping stressed.

Earlier, China Central television reported that Xi Jinping and Putin exchanged congratulatory telegrams on Thursday on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory in World war II.

On September 2, 1945, Japanese representatives aboard the USS Missouri signed the act of surrender, marking the end of World war II, which lasted six years and claimed at least 55 million lives.

The document was signed by representatives of the United States, China, Great Britain, the USSR, Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands and New Zealand. From the Soviet Union, Lieutenant-General Kuzma Derevyanko attended the ceremony.

In April 2020, Putin signed a law to move the day of military glory - the Day of the end of World war II-from 2 to 3 September. On September 3, China celebrates Victory Day over militaristic Japan.
