Accusations of the European Union countries towards Belarus and Russia in connection with the flow of refugees to Europe are unfounded Maria Zakharova, director of the Information and press department of the Russian foreign ministry, said at a briefing on Thursday.
"Calls on Minsk and Moscow to stop the flow of refugees in the form in which they are presented are unfounded given the actions of the Western coalition in the Middle East and North Africa, as well as, of course, in Afghanistan," she said. - "What do Minsk and Moscow have to do with it? How have they managed to combine these topics? It all looks strange, to say the least".
According to her, laying the blame and inventing hybrid attacks looks especially ridiculous against the background of the evacuation from Afghanistan, when tens of thousands of people were left without a solution to their basic necessities of life. "By different means, different channels, different ways they are trying to leave the territory of their country and are settling in different countries, on the borders, moving to other continents," continued the diplomat. - "What does that have to do with us? Twenty years western countries have been conducting this campaign in Afghanistan and all that time we've been urging the UN Security Council to tell them what they're doing there."
Zakharova also reminded that throughout this period of time, contradictory statements about withdrawal and the buildup of troops were constantly heard. Washington's actions fluctuated according to the party line: depending on which party came to the White House, that was how the US treated the situation in Afghanistan," she stated. - "Not only that, but even within one administration there were different visions. No one had a coherent vision or analysis of what was happening."
"All this ended in a global catastrophe with the evacuation of its forces, as well as with the humanitarian situation inside Afghanistan, and, of course, provoked another round of migration crisis," the official representative of the diplomatic mission stressed.
