Moscow expects that Libya's new government, headed by Fathi Bashagha, will be able to unite Libyan society. This was stated in a comment by Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Monday in connection with the confirmation of Bashagha as Libya's new prime minister.

"We believe that this choice of Libyan parliamentarians should be respected. The main thing is that the existing contradictions between Libyans should not lead to a serious conflict, but should be resolved through negotiations and compromises," the diplomat said. - "We hope that the new Libyan government, headed by Fathi Bashagha, will be able to bring Libyan society together, which will enable it to successfully cope with the challenges of the transition period, including preparations for national elections".
