02 August 2022

Russia will continue to provide assistance to Azerbaijan and Armenia in the issues of border delimitation and demarcation, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova told a briefing on Tuesday.

"For our part, we are always ready to host our Azerbaijani and Armenian friends on Russian territory. We are convinced that our country's unique professional capabilities, competencies in terms of delimitation and demarcation in the post-Soviet space can significantly strengthen security on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border and the region as a whole," the diplomat pointed out.

Zakharova noted that Russia is actively contributing to the preparation of the Azerbaijani-Armenian peace treaty. The official representative of the Russian MFA reminded that "Russian Foreign Minister's Special Representative for Promoting Normalization of Relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia Igor Khovayev holds regular consultations with the parties to find common ground and reach mutually acceptable basic principles for the peace agreement."

According to Zakharova, the Russian MFA "proceeds from the fact that Baku and Yerevan will determine the specific timing of certain events." "For our part, we will also inform after they make these decisions," she added.
