Russia allows the possibility of holding negotiations on its territory between representatives of the Afghan authorities and the radical Taliban movement (outlawed in the Russian Federation). This was stated on Thursday at a briefing by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
"At the moment, Russia has not officially made an offer to host inter-Afghan talks, but we do not rule out such a possibility in the future. We will not hide the fact that we have received relevant requests. So far, we assume that the negotiation process will be lengthy and will require more than one round of meetings," she said.
Earlier, acting foreign Minister of Afghanistan Mohammad Hanif Atmar said that 12 countries offered to host inter-Afghan talks.
