Zakharova suggested that the US "clean up its mess" in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan

Washington should deal with the consequences of its actions in the Middle East before focusing on "threats" from Beijing and Moscow, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova wrote in her Telegram channel, commenting on a statement by Deputy Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee (CSC) of the US Armed Forces, General John Hyten.

"What we saw in Afghanistan, and the way things are developing now in Iraq, gives us the understanding that we should not ignore the threats in the Middle East, but deal with them in a different way, leaving a small trail so that our body is more oriented to the threats from China and Russia," Zakharova quoted Hyten as saying.

"Maybe before orienting the body toward threats one should clean up 'small trails' in Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Syria?" the diplomat suggested ironically.
