"The people are tired of unrest and have made their choice. Therefore, there should be no rallies in the country in the near future," he said. According to him, after the elections, "the minority must respect the choice of the majority."
According to Zhaparov, Kyrgyzstan will soon adopt a new constitution, and parliamentary elections will be held before June 1. "This will complete all political processes, which will take place without rallies. I say this with confidence because the current presidential election was held honestly," he is sure. In his opinion, for this reason, there is no ground for citizens' resentment. "We also want to hold parliamentary elections honestly and according to the law," Zhaparov said.
On January 10, Kyrgyzstan held early presidential elections and a referendum to elect a presidential or parliamentary form of government. Seventeen candidates ran for president. According to preliminary CEC data, Zhaparov won with about 80% of the vote. One candidate needed more than half the votes to win in the first round. More than 80% of citizens who voted favored the presidential form of government. Official results of the elections and referendum will be announced by the CEC in the coming days.
