Turkish security forces have detained 90 individuals suspected of being involved in the activities of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a group officially recognized as a terrorist organization within the country.
TRT Haber reported that anti-terrorist operations were conducted across 18 provinces of Turkey.
These operations come in response to a recent terrorist attack near the Turkish Interior Ministry building in Ankara, an incident for which the PKK claimed responsibility. On October 1, two terrorists drove up to the gates of the building, with one of them detonating explosives at a guard post. A firefight ensued, leading to the neutralization of the second terrorist. Two police officers sustained minor injuries. The Turkish Interior Ministry identified one of the attackers as a PKK member.
